A trek to Upper Mustang offers the best views of ancient Tibetan culture, wide variety of landscapes, spectacular view of mountains peaks, unique lifestyle and breathtaking natural scenarios. Starting from the sightseeing of culture and lifestyle of people living in Upper Mustang to the sightseeing of some of the highest mountains of the world, Mustang is a dream destination that can easily charm its visitors.

 

Upper Mustang Trek takes the trekkers to the unexplored and untouched villages of Upper Mustang which is a total privilege to explore their culture and lifestyle. This is a trek to Mustang Valley which is located at the Nepal-Tibet border and is a home of the centuries of old monasteries, Chhortens and mediaeval caves. The second kingdom of Nepal also known as the country behind Himalayas gives you an opportunity to explore the unique landscape and lifestyle of people living in this region. As this trek is closed to the visitors, one should have a special permit to go to this mysterious place. Main attraction of this trek is the unique Tibetan culture and lifestyle followed by the people living in this region. Beside the culture, this place also offers the spectacular view of mountain ranges, colorful and wide variety of flowers, brown hills and an opportunity to see the Tiji festival of this region.

 

Upper Mustang Trek starts with the sightseeing of Kathmandu valley. After the sightseeing, we will take a scenic flight to Jomsom from where we will start our trek to the Upper Mustang. An easy trek about 5-6hours from Kagbeni will take us to Chele village. We will then pass many villages such as Syanbochen, Ghami, Tsarang, Lo-Manthang, Drakmar, Ghiling and finally we will end our trek at Chhuksang.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,428ft)
Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m/2689ft): 5-6 hours
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom (2,700m/8898ft) and trek to Kagbeni (2,810m/9,216ft): 3-4 hours trek
Day 05: Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m/10,004ft): 5-6 hours
Day 06: Chele to Syanbochen (3,475m/11,398ft): 6-7 hours
Day 07: Syanbochen to Ghami (3,520m/11,546ft): 5-6 hours
Day 08: Ghami to Tsarang (3,620m/11,873ft): 5-6 hours
Day 09: Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (3,730m/12,234ft): 3-4 hours
Day 10: Explore Lo Manthang/ Acclimatization
Day 11: Lo-Mangthang to Drakmar (3810 m/12,500ft): 6-7 hours
Day 12: Drakmar to Ghiling (3,806m/12,484ft): 5-6 hours
Day 13: Ghiling to Chhuksang (3050m/10,004ft): 5-6 hours
Day 14: Chhuksang to Jomsom (2,700/8,856ft): 6-7 hours
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara
Day 16: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 17: Final departure

Cost Include

  • Airport / Hotel / Airport pick up & drop by private car or van. It is depend of the group.
  • Two nights standard accommodation in 2/3/4/5 star category hotel in Kathmandu located tourist center, or up to you.
  • Meals on full board (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the trekking

  • An experienced Government licensed holder Climbing guide and porter to carry your luggage during the trek.
