Mardi Himal trek is a newly-opened, beautiful trekking route in the Annapurna region. It is short and easy but graded as medium-hard. As the trail mostly passes along the ridge, the altitude slowly gains, until you reach Mardi Himal base camp at 4,500m. While trekking, you will follow the winding paths and pass through beautiful rhododendron forests, alpine landscapes, and unspoiled typical villages. Also, en-route you will encounter various species of Himalayan birds, wild and domestic animals, Yak herders, and enjoy the distant views of the Himalayan mountains that include Annapurna South, Mt Machhapuchhre (also known as Fishtail), and Mount Hiunchuli. In spring you will see blooming of rhododendrons in the forest and enjoy walking in the pleasant weather.
This trek is ideally suited to those travelers of all ages who want to explore the off-the-beaten-track in Nepal. These days many trekkers prefer Mardi Himal trek due to amazing views and short duration like other treks in the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal trek doesn’t require a high level of physical fitness; however moderate level of fitness is required. Just one needs to trek over some rocky section near the high camp and base camp. Every day one has to do slow hiking for 4–7 hours.
The best time to do Mardi Himal Trek is from the beginning of October to the end of December, and mid-January to mid-May. During this time the weather is clear and pleasant. You will see the magnificent mountain views in the distance.
Physical fitness always helps if you are undertaking any adventures trips to Nepal. Preparation for this trip consists of 4 to 6 hours of walking during the weekend in your free time, and an hour of aerobic activities during the weekdays, for at least two months prior to your departure. Generally, these are suitable guidelines for all of our trips, except for any trip that goes above the altitude of 4500 metres and above. The fitter you are, the more enjoyable your trip will be!
